Nothing says fourth of July like a good burger! At our house, since meat is never on the menu this means a good veggie burger! Regardless of whether you are a vegan or a meat eater just looking to add some healthy alternatives to your menu, veggie burgers can be a tasty and healthy addition to any celebration. Today I thought I would share with you a round up of my favorite quinoa burgers.
And, while we are at it, let’s take a minute to talk about cooking veggie burgers. A lot of people get frustrated the first time they try to make veggie burgers or quinoa patties because despite following the instructions they end up with a big mess. Sure the taste is great, but it is hard to settle with veggie burger hash when you had your sights set on something you could serve on a bun.
I’ll admit that the first few times I tried to make them the results were less than ideal.
Then I learned that I was flipping too early and too often. Ideally, you only want to flip your burgers once. When you start to see browning on the edges of your burgers, carefully lift one and make sure that a golden crust has formed. Only when the crust has formed should you attempt to flip your burger.
While some veggie burgers will hold up on the grill, not all will so do keep that in mind. I try to mention it in recipes if I think one is particularly ideal for the grill. I’ve yet to find a gluten free vegan version that is homemade that I am willing to risk, but I haven’t given up hope.
So, here we are – my top 9 quinoa burgers – in no particular order.
