More Smoothies Recipes! Peach Mango Smoothie

by on February 23, 2011

Let’s face it – many of us struggle with getting breakfast in the morning.  This is especially true when you are focusing on clean eating and fast food or the local bagel shop are out.  A great way to stick to your eating clean lifestyle on the go is with smoothie recipes! The good news is that there are so many different varieties that you don’t have to worry at all about getting bored.  They are easy to tailor to your taste and what you have on hand!

Today I thought I would share with you one of my favorite smoothie recipes!

Now, I use quinoa flakes in this smoothie recipe for a little added protein.  Sometimes when I know I am going to have an especially busy morning I will also add in ½ scoop of vanilla protein powder.  This way, I know that I won’t be getting hungry an hour later.  If you have a hard time finding quinoa flakes, you can order them Here, or just substitute protein powder.

One money saving trick that I have learned is to freeze fruit before it goes bad.  My oldest son is the fruit nazi and refuses to eat all but the very freshest fruit.  No, I don’t try to feed him stuff that is past its prime.  I’m talking about if the texture of a single raspberry in a bunch is slightly less than perfect he refuses to eat it.  Mangos that are too soft are out too!  I fought this for a while until I realized that he really did feel that strongly about subtle differences in food. (He can tell when I change brands of yellow mustard!!!!) So, instead of throwing them away I just put them in a small freezer bag and then I have them on hand for smoothie recipes.
