A steam cooker is something that every healthy kitchen should have. Not only can you use it for cooking quinoa and rice, you can also use it to cook just about anything. In fact, my favorite way to cook vegetables is in a steam cooker. I find that this is a much better method than cooking them in the microwave which is the method that a lot of diets and healthy eating cookbooks recommend. This steamer does it all! If you want to eat healthy experts say that steaming is one of the best ways to go. This is because you can steam food without adding any oils and steaming locks in vitamins and minerals. Plus, I think most foods taste better when they are steamed! If you want to go beyond cooking quinoa and rice, this is the steamer for you! You can cook quinoa, rice, fish, chicken and vegetables. You can even steam potatoes in it and avoid heating up your kitchen with the oven. This electric steamer is programmable for 12 hours for that set it and forget it meal! If you want an inexpensive food and rice steamer that just plain works, this one fits the bill. There are many inexpensive steamers out there that quite simply don’t work. That is not the case with this one! It is smaller than some rice cookers as it only has a three cup capacity, but how many times do you really need to cook more than three cups of dry rice? You can also branch out and use it to steam seafood and vegetables. Included is an instruction manual, rice paddle and steam rack. It even has handles specifically designed for transporting. One feature I really like is that when your food is done steaming it automatically transfers to the warming function. Gotta love that! This is a great little unit!
